A great way to support your immunity during cold and flu season is by making changes to your diet or incorporating superfoods. Read on to learn more!

 

1. Add color to your diet

An easy way to achieve a healthy variety of foods in your diet is to remember the colors; Purples, greens, reds are some colors to consider adding!

 

Try adding berries, dark leafy greens, onions, garlic, turmeric and ginger to your diet. Some people may have certain sensitivities to some foods so try exploring what works best for you.

 

2. Reduce white sugar

Refined sugar can reduce our immune system's effectiveness, so try and reduce the sugary snacks! If you have a sweet tooth, try alternatives like stevia, xylitol, monk fruit, dates, honey or maple syrup.

 

3. Try removing gluten and dairy from your diet

This is one of the first things I recommend to people who come to me with immunity challenges. For some people, eating gluten or dairy can be associated with a suppressed or weakened immune system.

 

4. Drink half your bodyweight, in ounces, of water every day

Because we lose water throughout the day through urine and sweat, we need to make sure that we’re making up for our losses through the water that we drink. Otherwise, dehydration affects our energy, mood and brain function.

 

This is how much to drink: half your body weight, in ounces in water. So if you weigh 150lbs, drink 75 ounces of water every day.
