Breaking Down Probiotic Myths

Looks Like Water, Tastes Like Water...But it’s Good for Digestion?!

If it looks like water and tastes like water, how do I know it isn’t just water?
The great news is our USDA Certified Organic Liquid Probiotics are very much alive and viable, third party certified and verified by three separate independent labs! MaryRuth Liquid Probiotics are uniquely and naturally wildcrafted, in an enzyme-enriched substrate with a high pH balance. The purity of the finished product gives it the clear and generally tasteless end result.

Because our Liquid Probiotic is in a raw state and there are no fillers or flavors often found in other probiotics, it doesn’t look and taste like other probiotics...

It Looks Like Water...
But if you look at the Liquid Probiotic through a clear glass you will actually see it is not clear, but there is a slight filmy texture to it. These are the probiotic strains. Sometimes they join together, floating in more noticeable groupings, which are probiotic colonies, much like you might see in kombucha or other fermented foods.

Tastes Like Water...
Those with sensitive taste buds or a sharp nose may note a slightly earthy taste or smell to the probiotic, but the majority of people taste nothing, or liken it to plain water. Personally, I taste nothing! The taste sensitivity of a person can vary due to recent dietary intake, level of stress, hormone levels, and environmental impact (environmental pollutant or otherwise).

But How?
MaryRuth Liquid Probiotics are not synthetically created in a lab, or chemically extracted. Instead, they are extracted using unadulterated well water, from a proprietary blend of three organic grasses and suspended in their own enzyme-enriched substrate. This liquid form of probiotics are live, raw & shelf-stable and can easily survive the high temperatures of the body, stomach acid and antibiotics. How? Because they are Soil-Based Organisms (SBOs). SBOs are adept at surviving in higher temperatures because of their natural lifecycle. Studies have shown that SBO probiotics are that much more well-adapted to the environment of the gut, and survive in the digestive tract where they can provide long term benefit.

Why should I take probiotics?
Probiotics are living microorganisms that, when ingested, provide numerous health benefits. They’re usually bacteria, but certain types of yeasts can also function as probiotics. Humans have billions of friendly bacteria living in our digestive tracts, as well as bacteria that isn’t so friendly to our systems. Probiotics — beneficial or “friendly” bacteria — help us to digest our food and absorb nutrients effectively, while overgrowth of bacteria like Candida can negatively impact digestion and lead to other complications like yeast infections and oral thrush.

Different strains benefit the body differently. For example, a study showed Lactobacillus helveticus and Bifidobacterium longum to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression in people with clinical depression.

You can get probiotics from supplements, as well as from foods prepared by bacterial fermentation, like sauerkraut, kimchi, yogurt, kombucha and so on. In choosing a probiotic, you may be looking for specific strains guided by your own research or the suggestions of your physician or healthcare professional. Or a quick google search can help guide you through all the strains and their benefits to help you choose the probiotic best for you.

What about MaryRuth’s Liquid Probiotic?
There are 12 strains in our Liquid Probiotic, specifically chosen to support the GI tract. These strains work beautifully in symbiotic relationship with each other, creating a potent blend of highly absorbable Liquid Probiotics. The probiotics reside in an enzyme-enriched substrate, which is produced by the probiotics; these antiviral enzymes boost the efficacy of the probiotics. We managed to create a stable Liquid Probiotic that is plant-based and didn't need added agents in it to be viable, nor does it have added fillers or flavors. All for the health of your gut!
