Q: How does this differ from the Digestion Bundle?
A: To begin with, the Digestion Bundle and Gut Health Bundle contain a different arrangement of products. The Digestion Bundle contains our Liquid Probiotic, the Probiotic Turmeric+ Capsules and our Ultra Digestive Enzyme Capsules, whereas the Gut Health Bundle contains our Turmeric Gummies, Liquid Probiotic, Nighttime Multimineral and a choice of the Digestive Food Enzymes or Ultra Digestive Food Enzymes. Both bundles were built to support gut health and digestion, but while the Gut Health Bundle supports gut and digestive health, the Digestion Bundle is a more potent, targeted bundle.
Q: What is with all the different kinds of enzymes? How do I choose which one to take?
A: Digestive enzymes catalyze digestion, breaking down larger molecules into more easily absorbed particles, thus supporting digestion and nutrient absorption. Different digestive enzymes specialize in the digestion of different molecules, like Lipase, for example, which works to break down fats and fat-containing foods like nuts, meats, dairy products and oils. Each blend of enzymes contains different ratios of various enzymes, to treat a variety of digestive issues. Consider how your digestion may need aid and consult with your physician or medical profession to determine which enzyme blend may be best for you.
Q: What are these units of measurement for the enzymes?
A: When purchasing enzymes, it is important to notice how the units are measured on the supplement fact panel. With enzymes, listing the amount in weight, like milligrams (mg), is fairly meaningless because it doesn’t indicate the enzyme’s effectiveness. The Food Chemical Codex (FCC), which is created by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), establishes the standard measurements for supplements. While most food or nutrients are based on weight, enzymes are measured by units of activity and potency, with no direct correlation between weight and units of activity. Proteases are measured in HUT (Hemoglobin Unit Tyrosine base). Amylase are measured in DU (Alpha-amylase Dextrinizing units); Lactase are measured in LacU (Lactase unit) and so forth.
Q: What is turmeric?
A: Turmeric is a spice from the turmeric plant in the ginger family, the rhizome (root) of which has been long used in cooking and traditional medicine of India and other parts of southeast Asia. It is widely recognizable for its vibrant yellow-gold color and for its use in curries. Traditional medicines have used it for a variety of ailments, including liver conditions, digestive issues, pain relief and skin ailments.
Q: The ingredient list on the Turmeric Gummies doesn’t mention sugar, but the supplement fact panel lists one gram of sugar per serving. Where does that gram of sugar come from?
A: That one gram of sugar comes from the Isomalto-oligosaccharides (also known as IMO), a commonly used sweetener. We use IMO as a sweetener in our sugar-free gummies. Since the serving size of the turmeric gummy is larger than most of our other gummy products (4 gummies per serving), the quantity of IMO aggregates into more than 0.5g glucose and is thus rounded up to 1 gram of sugar, per FDA labeling regulations.
The IMO we use is made from a blend of organic, non-GMO cornstarch and organic, non-GMO tapioca, which undergoes a fermentation process, followed by a filtration process (so the IMO is considered corn-free).
Other sweeteners we use in our sugar-free products, varying from product to product, are monk fruit extract, stevia leaf extract, Erythritol and Xylitol. Erythritol and Xylitol, which are sugar alcohols, are derived from organic compounds. Sugar alcohols, monk fruit and stevia have a lower glycemic index.
Q: How should I take the Liquid Probiotic? Can I take it with drinks or food?
A: Ideally, the probiotic would be taken on an empty stomach in the morning. It can also be taken before meals if you have forgotten to take it in the morning. You can add the probiotic to any amount of liquid that you prefer.
Q: Do the Liquid Probiotics need to be kept in the fridge like many other probiotics?
A: Our Liquid Probiotics have been tested for efficacy in high/hot & cold temperatures; the efficacy of the product is not affected at all! Our probiotics are Soil-Based Organisms (SBOs), which are unique in the fact that they are resistant to heat, and are shelf-stable.
Q: How does the Extra Strength differ from the other Nighttime Multimineral Formulas?
A: Our Lemonade Dream flavor is an extra strength formula, with more Calcium and Magnesium. Both Nighttime Multiminerals contain a blend of minerals, including calcium citrate, magnesium citrate, 72 trace minerals, vitamin C, and vitamin D3, among others. Formulated to aid the body in falling asleep (magnesium), it also helps to restore the body while you sleep. When taken together, boron and magnesium assist in calming and relaxing the body to ensure a better and deeper sleep. Calcium helps rebuild and maintain healthy bone and nerve tissues, while vitamin C and vitamin D ensure all the trace minerals are absorbed.
While the Lemonade formula is the “extra strength” — with higher doses of Calcium & Magnesium — it does have lower quantities in some of the vitamins & minerals. Liquid formulas are like food recipes and to make them palatable and to have the ingredients work together effectively, ratios must be adjusted.
Q: Can I give the Multimineral to children? What is the dosing?
A: Yes, children, ages two and up, can use our formula. However, before you give the Multis to your children, we highly recommend that you show our formula to your physician, pediatrician or healthcare professional to see if our formula is right for your child. Your healthcare professional knows your child’s health best, including what other supplements or prescriptions your child may be taking, as well as knowing if your child is facing any health challenges. We recommend that the child's physician, pediatrician or healthcare professional approve all new wellness supplements. Your healthcare professional can also assess an appropriate dosage for your child. Each child is unique and different, and we want to make sure that they receive the best care possible!
Q: What if I forgot to refrigerate my Multimineral?
A: Some customers have forgotten to refrigerate their Multis after opening. We have done testing on the multivitamins and multiminerals: results suggest they are good for 7 days out of the refrigerator. We like to err on the side of safety and say 5 days.
