Vitamin D3 as Cholecalciferol: Our vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol) is the same form of this vitamin that your body naturally produces when exposed to sunlight!

Your Questions, Answered

Our D3 is sourced from wild-crafted, non-GMO, vegan Lichen, and our K2 is sourced from Natto, a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans (the highest food source of natural K2!). The process of fermentation removes soy from the product.

There is no added flavor in our Liquid Vitamin D3+K2 Spray, though it has the light taste of olive oil, the base of the spray.

Vitamins D3 and K2 work with one another to maintain control over calcium levels in your body. Vitamin D3 controls the absorption of calcium into the blood. Vitamin K2 controls where that calcium goes. Calcium balance is an important piece in cardiovascular health including supporting healthy, flexible arteries.

You may have noticed that we no longer include daily values on our label for vitamin K2. This is because of recent changes implemented by the FDA, where regulations now exclude menaquinone as being counted toward the daily value of vitamin K.

Per the FDA: "The preamble to the proposed rule noted that there are three general forms of vitamin K: Phylloquinone (vitamin K1), menaquinone (vitamin K2), and menadione (vitamin K3) (id.). For labeling purposes, there is no specific definition for vitamin K and the AI for vitamin K is based on the intake of phylloquinone, the major form of vitamin K in the diet. Thus, the final rule establishes, in § 101.9(c)(8)(iv), an RDI for vitamin K of 120 mcg based on the AI that pertains only to phylloquinone."

The FDA is determined to change this because they do not believe that studies on menaquinone provide sufficient evidence to suggest that menaquinones affect vitamin K absorption and utilization.
