Q: The percent daily value and amount per serving changed! Why is that?
A: Periodically, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) changes their intake recommendations based on new research findings, evolving dietary habits, and updated understanding of nutrition. The FDA has changed their recommendation for B12, from 6 mcg to 2.4 mcg. This change increased the percent daily value of our product’s serving size (4 sprays) from 50,000% to 125,000%!
As we were already updating our labels to reflect our B12 Spray now being certified USDA Organic, we also opted to decrease our suggested use to 2 sprays based on this updated information from the FDA; taking 2 sprays daily provides 1500 mcg of B12, which is 62,500% DV.
Though our suggested serving and label is updated, you can be assured that the amount of B12 per bottle and per spray is the same as before; we did not decrease the overall amount of B12 provided in this product. Four sprays of the product will continue to provide 3000 mcg of Methyl B12, and some people may opt to take the original dose recommendation. If you do opt to decrease your dose, based on these FDA findings, updated percent daily value and our new suggested use, the good news is that the supply of the bottle doubles! Whichever dosage you decide to take, we always advise that you speak with your physician or healthcare professional to ensure you’re taking the right amount for your health.
Q: Why is the B12 so red? Is there dye in here?
A: No! We don’t use artificial colors in our products. The red of the spray is naturally occurring due to B12’s molecular structure. But keep in mind that B12 can stain, so be cautious when spraying this product!
Q: What are the ingredients and where are they sourced?
A: The Non-GMO, Vegan Natural Berry Flavor is made up of cherry extract and other berry extracts. The extracts are derived from the berries themselves. The “natural” part of natural flavor means it is derived from natural sources, not artificial or manufactured. There is no corn alcohol in the flavoring nor is it used in manufacturing. The Organic Non-GMO Vegan Vegetable Glycerin is derived from sustainable palm oil, and the Organic Non-GMO Vegan Citric Acid is from citrus fruits.
The Vitamin B12 is Methylcobalamin, a naturally-occuring, active form of B12. Interestingly, when methylcobalamin is ingested, the body doesn’t actually keep it as methylcobalamin — it removes the methyl group. The cell may then convert the cobalamin molecule to one of the active forms of B12 (methylcobalamin in the cytosol and adenosylcobalamin in the mitochondria). The amounts of which type(s) of B12 it converts to may depend upon various factors.
Q: Will taking B12 give me more energy?
A: Some people find that taking B12 supports their energy levels, but this is a result of treating a deficiency. B12 deficiency is common amongst certain groups such as older adults, vegetarians, and vegans. To determine if you are deficient and whether this product may benefit you, we recommend speaking with your physician or healthcare professional and having your bloodwork done.
