3 Tips for When You Are Feeling Unmotivated

As we transition out of winter and into spring, you may either find yourself extra motivated or perhaps needing a bit of help to kick-start your motivation again.

If you’re feeling more towards the latter, we have a few practical tips to help you get out of that slump and slowly building momentum.

Write down what you want to get done

There’s something about taking pen to paper to write out all of your to-do’s.

(Don’t want to kick it old school? Using the Notes app on your phone always works, too!)

Even if you’re feeling unmotivated at the moment, take time to sit and write out everything in your head that you need to gain motivation to accomplish. This simple act of getting it out of your mind and onto paper may kick-start some inspiration.

And if nothing else, writing down your tasks is at least a daunting task in itself that you’ve gotten done.

Look at you, making moves already!

Focus on each moment

It can feel debilitating thinking of all the things you need or want to get done. We recommend focusing on one task at a time, one minute at a time!

Once you have all your to-do’s written out, we recommend blocking some time in the future when you want to aim to accomplish each task.

Of course, our Time Blocking Journal is a great way you can do this, but a simple notebook or free print-outs of our time blocking sheets will do the trick, too.

You can break down these goals into as small chunks of time as you’d like to make them feel less overwhelming — even a few minutes towards a longer task will compound over time to help you reach your goals.

Blocking time for each task will allow you to live in each moment and not worry about future tasks you already aren’t feeling motivated to do. Just take it minute by minute!

Get a motivation buddy

Reach out to a friend or loved one you can confide in about your motivation levels and ask them to help give you the type of pep talk or push you may need. Accomplishing tasks with a friend is always more fun!

Or, if you’d prefer, you can always discover people you find motivational and inspiring to follow on social media or listen to on a podcast.

Either way, hearing from another person outside of yourself is sure to help your motivation progress.

Motivation ahead

We hope that these practical, easy tips will help you to re-discover your motivation! As long as you’re trying your best each day, you should be proud of yourself.

We believe in you!
