MaryRuth's Back to School Tips

Heading back to school always presents new opportunities and experiences in life. It’s not only a fresh start to learn more; it’s a great time to be the best version of yourself and move forward every day.

Whether this is your or your child’s first year starting school or their last after 12+ years of attending, we hope it’s your best year yet.

How can you help support this endeavor?

We think that having a positive mindset always helps! Plus, hopefully, you can take away something great from MaryRuth’s tips below for this school year.

Tip 1: Say “hi” to everyone

This may seem incredibly easy for some or a bit intimidating for others. Whether you’re a parent or a child, say hi to everyone at school!

Simply greeting others around you opens up an opportunity for conversation and is a great way to get to know other parents and faculty. For students, saying hello to other students also is a great way to make new friends.

Additionally, trying to not only say hello but learn people’s names is a fantastic way to connect, which can be so beautiful.

Tip 2: Use positive affirmations

Affirmations may just seem like words, but the truth is they are so powerful. Adults may not always make time to do it for themselves but do find value in doing them with children.

We believe there’s value in using positive affirmations for yourself and your children! MaryRuth does affirmations with her children in the morning before heading out the door or before bed — so you can choose what time of day will work best for you.

The affirmations MaryRuth repeats with her children are: “I’m smart! I’m strong! I’m amazing! I can do anything!”

Tip 3: Create morning & night routines

We believe that creating a morning and nighttime routine will help you thrive!

Practice time blocking for a few weeks even before school starts (or if you’re already into the school year, it’s never too late to start) to begin making this habit a part of your daily life.

Then, implement your own time blocking for your whole family, so you’re all on a routine together getting to bed, getting up, taking your vitamins, saying your affirmations, and everything else you and your loved ones enjoy doing.
